The <strong>strange cover art<\/strong> caught my eye, and after a bit of investigation with Google I conclude it is a <strong>real photo<\/strong> of the artist with a <strong>doll&#8217;s face<\/strong> superimposed. Clever!<\/p>\n<p>This is <strong>not<\/strong> just another latin pop album. Each track is a\u00a0<strong>layered soundscape<\/strong> with ostinato and drone elements. She skillfully blends acoustic and electronic instruments that support her chant-like vocals nicely. On the better tracks this leads to an organic mixture that approaches the sublime. My favorite tracks are\u00a0<strong>Los Hongos De Marosa<\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/musiqueapproximative.net\/tracks\/juana%20molina_los%20hongos%20de%20marosa.mp3\" target=\"_blank\">listen<\/a>], the <strong>Vive Solo <\/strong>[<a href=\"http:\/\/themusiclobby.com\/images\/stories\/Music%20Files\/02%20vive%20solo.mp3\" target=\"_blank\">listen<\/a>], and <strong>\u00bfQui\u00e9n?<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Her earlier albums (<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.com\/B00122ORNQ\" target=\"_blank\">Son<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.com\/B00122MBQQ\" target=\"_blank\">Tres Cosas<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.com\/B00122S56G\" target=\"_blank\">Segundo<\/a>) are also good.
