Our local representative is the <strong>Carolina Wren<\/strong> (Thryothorus ludovicianus) whose song resembles a <strong>pleasant car alarm<\/strong> [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allaboutbirds.org\/guide\/sound\/species\/481A.mp3\" target=\"_blank\">listen<\/a>]. In a <a title=\"Neural Mechanisms for the Coordination of Duet Singing in Wrens\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencemag.org\/content\/334\/6056\/666.short\" target=\"_blank\">recent paper by Eric Fortune at al<\/a>\u00a0published in <em>Science<\/em> there are several recordings of <strong>Plain-Tailed Wrens<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Plain-tailed_Wren\" target=\"_blank\">Pheugopedius euophrys<\/a>) from South America singing what are obviously coordinated duets.
