It\u00a0was Hellenized\u00a0by <strong>Alexander the Great<\/strong> and ultimately\u00a0became the\u00a0regional <strong>Roman\u00a0Capital<\/strong> in\u00a0<strong>129 BCE.<\/strong>\u00a0The ruins today are only 10% restored. The first photo shows the <strong>Greek-Style Theater<\/strong> (with up to 25,000 seats!) and the wide avenue leading down to the port (which has silted in).
