[<a href=\"http:\/\/richard.rathe.org\/travel\/bwca19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Gallery (opens in a new tab)\">Gallery<\/a>] Our party of four became just Ross and I due to circumstances beyond anyone&#8217;s control. This was exacerbated by <strong>horrendous wind and cold rain<\/strong> on the drive up. It is long, thin and pretty shallow. This is one of the best lakes in the BWCA. Its south shore is defined by the <strong>Misquah Hills<\/strong>, which rise up several hundred feet and even sport a few cliffs. The north shore is much lower and all the campsites are located along it. Some of the area has burned in the past few decades creating a mosaic of different forest types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We revisited <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"a campsite I stayed at in 2002 (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/richard.rathe.org\/travel\/bwca02\/page4.html\" target=\"_blank\">a campsite I stayed at in 2002<\/a>. It looked even better! Nearby was a <strong>small waterfall<\/strong> draining out of the lake.
