This area has also been <em>burned<\/em> more than once in recent times. We proceeded to portage thru <strong>Caribou and Horseshoe Lakes <\/strong>before snagging the primo campsite on <strong>Gaskin<\/strong> (located on an island with 180\u00ba views down the flat rocks provided a commodious spot for our <em>happy hour<\/em> before we sat down to <em>delicious vegetarian meals<\/em> prepared by Ross. Terese slipped on rocks and <em>twisted her ankle<\/em> on the last afternoon. After resting it for twelve hours she bravely walked the four portages back to civilization using the spare paddle as a crutch. The <em>White Pines<\/em> in the area looked very healthy. The <em>Burned Areas<\/em> appeared to be recovering slowly. The <em>Loons<\/em> remained active and we saw at least one <em>Bald Eagle<\/em>. The &#8220;<em>Tent Spider<\/em>&#8221; was something new.
